Spirited!

I might have my dreams broken
I might have my reality shaken
But believe me when I tell you this
I couldn't feel more alive this moment
I close my eyes and behold I see
A world dripping with colors
Sugarcane on snow capped peaks
Blueberry bushes by the beach
Power cuts on a warm night make me dream
About the moon melting into drops of butterscotch and cream
You could blind me, shackle me, gag me, rape me
Yet you cannot touch, leave alone kill the spirit within me

Don't Stop!

Masks intact we endeavour every once in a while
For a night of fun and frivolity, where strangers meet
Appear to get along, make acquaintances with facades
We come forward, we retreat, we march to the drum beat

Poised and practiced, we dance along invisible lines
Sanctimonious lines, lines we are told, we should not cross
I have a problem with lines, always have, errant child that I am
Painting within lines for a picture, about which I don’t give a toss

We slipped away, away in the moon drenched night!
Away from lines and all, thwarting checks and tilting balances
Distilling the night, until what remained were only the wee hours,
Those precious moments, my acquiescence to your manifold talents

Celebrating the eternal truth that you are man and I am woman
That nature meant for us to take ever so pleasurable a jaunt
My adage is that, our lives are caught within the shackles of time
My love, yet we are free every moment to live the life we want

Regrettable Travails

I run barefoot, with the wind teasing my hair back
I run for the joy of the salty sea spraying my face
I run away from nothing, and toward everything
Did you follow me just for your whim of chasing?

I travel life’s forests and deserts seeking truths
An errant child with a warbled time machine
I travel back and forth unforgiving myself
Were you a mirage or a misjudgement?

I know I should keep running,
I know I shouldn’t turn back and look
Yet I get persuaded over better sense,
Like the onlookers in a road accident
Why did you turn out to be,
Like the apparition in my dreams?

It is amazing now when I think back,
What that sinking resigned feeling echoes
Realizing I’m in the wrong bus, yet riding on
Why did you not stop at that look in my eyes?

Love or hate is no laughing matter
Was it curiosity or jealousy that egged you on,
You outran me, jumped at me from behind
And said boo,
I’d forgive you for that, but
Why did you make hate to me?

Music Room

Amidst swirling smoke you were a vision in white
A new face yet somehow familiar
Things you said not to my face, made it hard to lock sight
With you, yet you were hard to look away from

Like a pair of magnets in the hands of a naughty child
I was drawn to you, unmindful you sat painfully afar
You sipped your drink and I got high, one smile of yours, I was beguiled
Music rained and I was a-drench, still the thirst I just couldn’t quench

Love makes friends of enemies, lovers, enemies of friends they say
They saw their worst fears dance alive in our eyes,
Ban our meetings, censor our speech and actions they may,
Banishing you from my heart is like wishing away hours from a day

From time immemorial my love, it takes but a fleeting moment
To unearth a new world, an innocent brush and man discovered fire,
A split second for the big bang to mobilise all that was dormant
There was a brush; there was fire, an explosion and a stairway to heaven

My sweet torment, ours is one love with no expectation but love,
We were together before birth; we will be together after death
Like God and Time, our journey knows no start nor end, up above
We have a dimension where you are as close to me as thought is to mind

Arbit Thoughts

The thing that separates humans from animals is that we come together with our pockets of knowledge to work towards a collective good. One generation uses the previous generations knowledge as a platform rather than reinventing the wheel everytime. A mother teaches her child not to touch fire, a father attempts to make his sons childhood easier than his, an elder sibling guides the younger one in major decisions lest his mistakes are repeated by the younger one, a good boss tries to be that mentor he never had to his employees. The minute mankind starts hoarding knowledge or experience our downfall begins as a group and we take steps backward in evolution.
